Immunity boosting foods that your children should consume:
1) Turmeric
Turmeric helps to enhance immune system’s responses to infections and is a great immunity booster! A pinch of turmeric to milk works as a great tonic. Drinking turmeric milk on regular basis provides immunity against cold, flu and allergies as it has antiviral properties. Adding some saffron, further enhances the healing properties of the milk.
2) Citrus Crush
Vitamin C tends to slow down cell damage and heal wounds, in addition to protecting body against disease. To help your child get vitamin C, offer them seasonal fruits such as guava, oranges, kiwi and jamun. Other good sources of vitamin C include baked potatoes and broccoli.
3) Get Nutty
Kids can get fussy about fruits and vegetables sometimes but they may like to eat crunchy dry fruits and nuts like walnuts, cashews and almonds. To amuse them, you can even make a trial mix of them! They can be consumed in any form, dry or roasted. Walnuts, raisins, dates and almonds are good sources of vitamins and antioxidants. They are rich in protein and are sources of good fats which ensures that the energy level of your kid is always high!
4) Dairy Dip
Vitamin D also helps in boosting the immune system strong besides helping to build the bones and keeping them strong! One of the best sources of vitamin D is milk! If your kids do not get pleased at drinking milk, you can try giving them smoothies, milkshakes and fruit yogurt! This breaks the monotony of gulping the big glass of milk and providing immunity boost!
5) E-Rich Foods
With vitamin C and vitamin D, the body needs vitamin E as well! It helps to fight off bacteria and viruses, also protecting your kid’s cells and tissues from damage! For E-rich foods, stock up on whole grains, nuts, seeds, oats and green leafy vegetables such as spinach and broccoli. To make this ingredients kid-palatable, you can serve oatmeal with cinnamon and honey, a whole grain toast with jam or peanut butter or maybe a steamed broccoli with melted cheese!
