What's in Our Nourishing Shampoo?

Nobody enjoys hair-wash day.

Not the child who's had shampoo in their eyes once before, and not the parent holding the mug of water.

Here's the thing though. The crying usually isn't about water. It's about sulphates, the harsh cleaning agents in most shampoos. They strip so hard that the lather stings the moment it runs down.

We left them out. Coconut does the washing instead, with ten Ayurvedic herbs to keep hair soft.

No sting. No knots to fight through afterwards. Just a hair wash that ends in smiles instead of tears.

What it does

  • Cleans gently, and keeps the scalp's own oils in place
  • Softens knots with Shikakai and Hibiscus, so combing gets easier
  • Keeps hair from drying out, with Aloe Vera and Amla
  • Tear-free, because what's inside is mild to begin with

10 natural ingredients inside: Hibiscus, Fenugreek, Amla, Shikakai, Bhringraj, Aloe Vera, Green Gram, Tomato, Glycerine, Wheat Protein

Pump on wet hair. Rinse well.

Safe from 0 months.

How to Use?

Washing

  • Pump into your hands first, never straight onto the head
  • Rub into wet hair and work up a light lather
  • Rinse well with plain water, then pat dry with a soft towel

Making it easier

  • Wet the hair first. Dry hair soaks up more shampoo than it needs.
  • A little lathers plenty. More won't clean better, it just takes longer to rinse.
  • Comb while the hair is still a bit damp, not fully dry

How often

  • Two or three times a week is enough for most children
  • Washing every day dries out the scalp, whatever shampoo you use

Did You Know?

Hibiscus is nature's conditioner.

The flower's own gel coats each strand the way silicone does, except it rinses clean instead of building up. Indian hair has been washed with it for centuries.

The mildest cleaners here come from coconut.

They foam less than sulphates, and that's exactly why they're gentler. Big lather has never meant clean hair.

Wheat protein is small enough to get inside the hair.

Broken down into tiny pieces, it slips into the strand and fills the gaps that make fine hair look flat.

Because Hair Wash Shouldn't Be the Hard Part

Once shampoo gets in their eyes, they remember. Every wash after that is a negotiation. So we made one that doesn't sting, doesn't leave knots, and doesn't need convincing.

  • No sting - Mild coconut cleaners, not harsh sulphates
  • No knots - Shikakai and Hibiscus, so the comb goes through
  • No dryness - Glycerine and Aloe, so hair stays soft after a wash

Made with 10 natural ingredients for soft, healthy, easy hair.

Why Parents Trust It

A bottle of BabyOrgano Nourishing Shampoo surrounded by natural ingredients including hibiscus, amla, shikakai, and fresh tomato.

No Sulfates at All

Every cleanser in this bottle is coconut-derived. Most baby shampoos still use sulfates, which clean by stripping and stripping is what stings.

The Comb Actually Goes Through

Shikakai is a natural detangler and Hibiscus conditions each strand. Post-bath knots are the part most parents dread, and this is aimed squarely at them.

Hair Doesn't Feel Squeaky After

Squeaky means stripped. Glycerine and Aloe Vera hold moisture in, so hair feels soft rather than clean-and-brittle.

Shikakai and Amla, Not Just Named on the Front

Ten herbs, each with a job Amla for the follicle, Bhringraj for circulation, Fenugreek for growth, Tomato to balance scalp pH.

No Silicones to Build Up

Silicones make hair feel smooth by coating it, then accumulate. Hibiscus does the same job and rinses out.

Gentle Enough From Day One

Formulated for newborn scalps. No mineral oil, no silicones, no sulfates.

Need to Know

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before choosing, washing, and caring for your little one's hair.

What makes this different from other baby shampoos?

Two things. Every cleanser in this baby shampoo is coconut-derived and sulfate-free, which is what makes it genuinely mild rather than mild-sounding. And it carries ten herbs Hibiscus, Shikakai, Amla, Bhringraj, Fenugreek and more that condition and detangle as it cleans, so hair isn't left rough after a wash.

Is it really tear-free?

Yes. Tear-free comes down to the cleansers, not an additive. Harsh sulfates strip oil aggressively and that is what stings when lather runs down a face. This formula uses mild coconut-derived cleansers instead. As with any shampoo, avoid direct contact with the eyes and rinse well.

Is this natural baby shampoo safe for a newborn's scalp?

Yes, it is suitable from 0 months. It is free from sulfates, mineral oil and silicones. For a newborn, use a very small amount on a damp scalp, lather lightly with your fingertips rather than your nails, and rinse thoroughly.

How often should I use baby hair shampoo on my child?

Two or three times a week is enough for most children. Daily washing removes the scalp's own oils faster than they are replaced, regardless of how gentle the shampoo is. In summer, or after a lot of outdoor play and sweating, you may want to increase it.

Is this a good baby shampoo for hair growth?

The herbs that support hair growth are in here and doing real work, Fenugreek nourishes the scalp, Amla strengthens the follicle from the root, and Bhringraj improves circulation to the scalp. What a shampoo can honestly do is keep the scalp clean and well nourished so hair grows in healthy, and avoid the harsh cleansers that leave hair brittle and prone to breaking. It is not a growth treatment, and no rinse-off product is.

Will it help with tangles?

Yes, that is one of the things it is built for. Shikakai is a traditional natural detangler and Hibiscus conditions each strand, so the comb passes through more easily. Comb while the hair is still slightly damp rather than fully dry.

My baby is losing hair. Will this help?

Newborns commonly shed their first hair in the early months, and this is a normal, expected part of development rather than a problem to fix. No shampoo changes it, and it is not a sign of anything wrong. This shampoo cleanses gently and nourishes the scalp with Amla, Bhringraj and Fenugreek, which supports healthy hair as it grows in. If you notice patchy loss, or loss in an older child, speak to your paediatrician.
